Reminder: Trash & Recycling Collection Delayed One Day All Week


Due to the snowstorm, trash and recycling collection in Newburyport will be delayed by one day during the week of January 26.

Monday pickups → Tuesday
Tuesday pickups → Wednesday
Wednesday pickups → Thursday
Thursday pickups → Friday
Friday pickups → Saturday

Exception: Downtown Newburyport will have Friday collection as usual.

Please place barrels where they will not impede traffic. If necessary, clear a space for them or place them on top of the snow, provided they do not interfere with snowplow operations.

Colby Farm Lane Recycling Center Closed, 1/29


Due to the inclement weather, the Recycling Center will be closed Thursday (tomorrow).

Where to Donate Household Items & More


Do you have an old dresser you need to get rid of, but don't want to see it get thrown away? Or have gently-used clothes that are still in good condition that can be worn by someone else?

Textile/Fabric Bin Locations


If you have clothing, shoes, and/or other textiles that you need to dispose of, there are textile bins located throughout Newburyport for residents to use. All textiles put into the textile donation bins throughout the city get sorted as either donations or recyclable material. Residents MUST dispose of textiles by putting them in the textile bins and cannot throw them into the trash.

The bins are located at:

  • Nock Middle School on Low Street
  • Bresnahan School on North Atkinson Street
  • The Yard Waste Facility and Recycling Center on Colby Farm Lane
