Mary C. DeLai

Mary DeLai serves as the representative of Ward 6 on the Newburyport City Council. A resident since 2018, she has served on the Newburyport Energy Advisory Committee and as one of Newburyport's two representatives to the Whittier Vocational Technical School Committee. Mary grew up in Reading, Massachusetts and has lived and worked in the Merrimack Valley and Essex County most of her life. For over thirty years, she worked as a public servant at all levels of government, but primarily in municipal and school finance and administration. She retired from public service in 2022, but still provides consulting and coaching support to cities, towns, and districts across the region. She holds active professional licensure as a Superintendent and School Business Administrator in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mary lives on Elmira Ave with her wife Debra Kirchheimer and their pup Cider.
