Afroz K. Khan

Afroz K. Khan was first elected into office as a Councillor At Large in 2017. She is currently serving her third term. Afroz was born and raised in Chicago by her immigrant parents who came to the US from India in the 1960's. She received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and earned her Masters in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. With over 30 years of experience in her field of engineering, Afroz is a consultant working as a senior specialist in energy efficiency. Afroz and husband Ahmer Ibrahim have two daughters Arissa (16) and Anya (13). Both of her daughters attended Newburyport Public Schools from Kindergarten up through Middle School.
