Water & Sewer Liens

All water and sewer charges are due 30 days from the billing date.  Charges remaining unpaid after 30 days, together with interest penalties, are subject to liens against the property to which the water and/or sewer is supplied, in accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40, Sections 42A-F.  On November 15th of each year, any past due balances from the prior fiscal year ending June 30th will be committed to the 3rd quarter real estate tax bill for the property.  Under state law, failure to receive a bill does not affect the validity of the bill or any interest and fines incurred due to late payment(s). It is the responsibility of the homeowner to secure his/her bill when one is not received.
