Cultural Council

The Massachusetts Cultural Council's Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually. Each year, local councils award more than $2 million in grants to more than 5,000 cultural programs statewide. The program promotes the availability of rich cultural experiences for every Massachusetts citizen.

Local Guidelines - The Newburyport Cultural Council, when considering grant applications submitted to it, gives special weight and preference to applications from Newburyport organizations and individuals, although all applications are considered and read with equal care. Particular favor is also given to events scheduled to take place at handicapped-accessible sites. Among the items we look for with special interest are complete, coherent and legible application forms; attention to such relevant details as event dates, times, and sites; full and balanced budget information; and support materials attesting to the identity, credentials, and "track record" of groups and performers seeking funding from us.
