You are Invited: Beach Management Community Forums!

beach forum

Our region’s barrier beaches are at the front lines of coastal change. Come learn about a collaborative grant-funded effort to help guide how we protect them.

Community Forum 1: Thursday, June 4th from 5:00-6:30pm at Blue Ocean Event Center (4 Ocean Front S, Salisbury, MA)

Community Forum 2: Friday, June 5th from 10:00-11:30am at PITA Hall (8 Plum Island Blvd., Newbury, MA)

The coastal communities of Salisbury, Newbury, and Newburyport have been working collaboratively on a regional beach sediment management study! Through funding from Coastal Zone Management, and with technical expertise from Sustainable Coastal Solutions, the project used advanced sediment modeling to better understand how sand moves along our shoreline — and what management and nourishment strategies could strengthen long-term resilience.

Now, as the study wraps up, we are inviting barrier beach residents, property owners, businesses, and visitors to two community forums to hear the findings and weigh in on next steps. Please join us to:

Share your experience living, working, and recreating on the barrier beaches

Hear main findings from the recently completed Regional Beach Sediment Management Study

Gain knowledge on ways to improve local resilience

Provide feedback to your community on proposed management strategies

Registration is optional but appreciated: Click here for to register for either forum.
