Parking Garage Construction Update – August 2, 2018

Parking Garage Construction Update – August 2, 2018

TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTIONS
AUGUST 13, 2018 – SEPTEMBER 30, 2018

Beginning August 13, 2018, the City will be restricting parking within the vicinity of the Parking Garage construction site located at 83 Merrimac Street. This temporary parking restriction, which includes portions of Merrimac Street, Titcomb Street, Washington Street and Court Street, will extend through September 30, 2018. These restrictions are necessary to allow adequate maneuvering space for trucks carrying large components of the Parking Garage to enter and exit the Downtown while minimizing obstruction and traffic delays to residents, visitors, and general public.

The truck route for these deliveries and the associated parking restrictions, all temporary, have been established by City Officials working with the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Services, and the contractor’s trucking company. The City’s overall goal is to facilitate these important truck deliveries with minimal impact to abutters and the general public, within the required project timeline. During the 5-6 week period contractors anticipate approximately 10-12 deliveries per day, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7am and 3pm.
