Clean Sweep

An annual volunteer effort to beautify Newburyport's parks and public spaces.

Kickoff Continental Breakfast at Cashman Park at 9 am

Pick a spot that needs cleaning up. Work independently or with a group and be sure to post pictures of you at work on our Facebook page to help raise awareness and share the fun with others! Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed and encouraged to pitch in picking up trash, leaves and brush.

Some suggested tasks:

  • ​Cleanup litter. Deposit in or beside city barrels or in a location we can access by truck.
  • Rake leaves in any park. Please bag leaves.
  • Cleanup garden beds (rake out leaves & spread mulch)
  • Pick up sticks and twigs to clear the way for mowing; please put what you pick up in leaf bags.  Anything thinner than a pencil in one bag; anything thicker than a pencil put in a separate bag. Leave larger branches where we can access by truck.
  • Sweep leaves and debris off trails and other drives

Volunteers should wear heavy shoes or boots and work gloves.  If you can, bring yard tools such as rakes, wheelbarrows and tarps for cleaning up yard waste. Leaf bags and some yard tools will be available at Cashman Park starting at 9 a.m.  We can also deliver supplies to your site, just ask!
