Gillis Bridge drawbridge resumes full operations for marine traffic
<p>The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced June 2nd that the Gillis Bridge on Route 1 over the Merrimack River has resumed full drawbridge operations for marine traffic. The repairs to the bridge on the Newburyport/Salisbury line were completed early on the morning of June 2nd and the bridge has resumed full operations for marine traffic. Drawbridge operations were impacted beginning May 3, in order to implement repairs to correct some structural deficiencies.
