Inspectional Services Suspended

Building inspections, electrical inspections, plumbing and gas inspections in the City of Newburyport will be temporarily suspended for the next two weeks. For urgent matters and emergencies that need immediate attention related to inspections and building safety, please contact the Buiding Department and make arrangements on a case by case basis.  Staff will respond in emergency situations and will be taking extra precautions to protect the health and safety of all during any inspections and site visits.

Reduction in City Staffing

City Hall and all other facilities remain closed to the public and the City will retain minimum staffing and be available by phone and email to conduct City business.  

If you have an unavoidable need to conduct business in person with a City department, call that department in advance to schedule an appointment.  Walk-ins will not be possible at any City building during this time.  Please visit individual Department web pages to get in touch for these situations and follow their instructions.
