Youth Services has Several Upcoming Fun Virtual Events for Families
Newburyport – Newburyport Youth Services programs may be canceled, and The Rec Center is currently closed, but the NYS Staff have not stopped working to engage children and families.
NYS continues to plan for summer programs as usual, while we are also discussing contingency plans should things not change as summer approaches. “We are committed to trying to have a safe, healthy, and positive environment for your children as soon as we can,” says NYS Associate Director of Communication, Margot Harrington. “We miss the kids and as a team we are thinking up ways to connect with them virtually in creative and fun ways.”

NYS Camp In, Friday, April 17th. Pillows, blankets, tents & survival snacks…oh my! Build your best pillow forts or pitch your tent inside or out! Joint this Facebook event and share ideas on how to prep for camp, activities, tips & tricks, recipes, and more! Be part of the conversation at this digital campfire. Post pictures of your forts, tents, campfire meals and more! We will be following along, bringing you special guests to provide music and ghost stories!
My "Home My Tri" Kids Virtual Triathlon - Designed to be done at home, with any equipment. Kids of all ages can design their own series of activities to meet their goal of 15 miles by Sunday, May 10th. Kids will track their miles on our Mileage Log worksheet. In addition to miles of biking, walking, jogging, or skating, participants can earn miles with ANY physical activity. Yoga, dance, weightlifting, shooting hoops, and more…every 15 minutes worth is 0.5 miles towards your goal!
May The 4th Be With You Virtual Party- Let’s celebrate everyone’s favorite space opera! Kids are invited to play Star Wars trivia, join the costume contest or the build your own droid challenge. Prizes included! We’ll provide ideas and inspirations for Star Wars themed arts and crafts and recipes. End the day with a group viewing of Solo: A Star Wars Story via Netflix Party.
