Water Disruption Notice

Under Construction

Dear Newburyport Water Customers,

Yesterday the Department of Public Services Water Division started exercising water valves in the downtown area and have started tank cleaning at our Rawson Hill water storage tank. These operations will hopefully finish by the end of the day.

You may have noticed some discoloration in our drinking water. This will clear within a few days and typically occurs after this cleaning. The water is safe to use and drink and meets all state and federal regulations for safe drinking water.

On Tuesday September 5, 2023, we will be cleaning the March’s Hill water storage tank. This cleaning may also cause some discoloration for a few days. The Water Division will begin its water flushing program in the coming weeks, and will release more communication about the schedule and what to expect.

These routine maintenance cleaning projects ensure we keep our water clean and meet our state and federal operations and maintenance plan.

If you have any questions, please contact the Water Division at 978-464-4420. Thank you for your understanding.
