Vote in Whittier Special Election Tuesday, January 23rd

Vote on $444.6 Million Bond for Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School
Whittier Tech Vote from 11am-7pm on Tuesday, January 23

The City of Newburyport is reminding you of the district-wide election today, Tuesday January 23rd, on the Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School. This vote would authorize the borrowing of $444,613,813 to pay costs of designing, constructing, originally equipping and furnishing a new District high school. The breakdown of costs for each community can be found here, and Newburyport’s contribution would be about $31 million up front for this project, or $61 million in expenses over the life of a 30-year bond. You can find more information about the project and the election here.

Voting hours are from 11:00am to 7:00pm and voting will occur at the usual polling places, with one important exception. Due to recent weather conditions, all Plum Island residents residing in Newburyport should report to the People’s United Methodist Church on 64 Purchase Street to vote in the special January 23rd election. Polling places are as follows:

Ward 2: Newburyport Public Library – 94 State Street
