8am Update 7/6/23: Merrimac St. is now open. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this repair. 

6PM Update 7/5/23: The City of Newburyport Department of Public Services' subcontractor, T.W. Excavating and Development Corp. along with the Sewer Division, are continuing to work extensively to fix the sewer break on Merrimac Street. We apologize for any traffic interruptions and congestion on adjacent streets, Thank you for your patience.

The City of Newburyport Department of Public Services' subcontractor, T.W. Excavating and Development Corp., is repairing an emergency sewer break on Merrimac Street between Plummer Avenue and Jefferson Street. Please expect traffic delays for the remainder of the day, 7/5/23. An update will be provided as soon as we have additional information but at this time there are no interruptions in service to any residence in the area.
