Newburyport Veterans Day Observances, 11/10 and 11/11

In observance of Veterans Day, City Hall will close at 4pm on Thursday, November 10th. City Hall, the Newburyport Public Library, and the Senior Community Center will be closed on Friday, November 11th for the holiday. The City of Newburyport thanks all veterans for their service, and is committed to supporting them now and into the future.

The City of Newburyport will hold a series of events to observe Veterans Day on Friday November 11th. Veterans, their families, and all residents are encouraged to join us.

10:30 AM CVS Parking Lot, Pond Street. The participants will gather here and march to City Hall

11:00 AM Newburyport City Hall:

  • Invocation    -    Captain   John   Erik   Berkhoudt,   Newburyport Salvation Army
  • Pledge of Allegiance - local Scout troops
  • National Anthem - Newburyport High School Marching Band under the direction of Band Director Steve Cohen
  • Recitation of the names of recently departed veterans - Mayor Sean Reardon, Memorial Bells
  • Veteran    Memories    and    Remembrances    -    Kevin   Hunt, Newburyport Veterans Agent
  • Patriotic Music  - Newburyport High School Marching Band under the direction of Band Director Steve  Cohen

In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the City Hall auditorium at 11:00 AM.

11:45 AM (Approx.) Leave City Hall to parade around Market Square, up State Street to the Veterans Cemetery at the base of Pond Street:

  • Mayor Reardon places Memorial wreath at monument
