New Video on Newburyport Black History Initiative
The City is happy to share a new video about the Newburyport Black History Initiative, which you can find here: https://vimeo.com/799976037. This 8-minute video clip describes how NBHI is illuminating some of the community’s history that has been largely overlooked or forgotten. The Initiative is installing historic interpretive signs in the everyday public landscape of Newburyport’s downtown core area. The signs will center the stories of Black Americans who lived and worked in Newburyport from the pre-Revolutionary War era to the early 20th century. The video was produced by local videographer and documentarian Dianne Steimel.
