The City of Newburyport is taking proactive steps towards creating a climate-ready future for all its residents. Spearheaded by the city’s Resiliency Committee, the "Resilient Newburyport - Climate Action Project" aims to initiate a community-wide dialogue addressing the impacts of climate change on the city.

The Resiliency Committee is currently conducting a short online survey seeking input on concerns, experiences, and priorities regarding climate change in Newburyport. The survey will also be used to inform four public Community Forums for Climate Action to be held this spring.

“It is vital that we hear from as many Newburyport residents and those working in the city as possible,” said Jane Healey, Chair of the Newburyport Resiliency Committee. “Responses to the survey will tell us what information is of most interest for the forums, and will also help us prioritize climate change related projects in the City.”

Responses can be anonymous or respondents can provide contact information if they are interested in participating in one of the forums or learning more about the Resiliency Committee’s efforts.

This initiative is part of the City's "Resilient Newburyport Community Action Grant" from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The grant supports local efforts to help residents and the city prepare for and adjust to the impacts of climate change. The survey is being conducted in collaboration with UMass Boston’s Urban Harbors Institute.
