City Announces New Parking Options During Market Landing Park Construction

Map of Parking Spaces

Construction began on the expanded Market Landing Park project on August 7th, which has required the fencing off of portions of the park and the surrounding parking. Much of the parking will be opened again at the completion of the project, though some spots will be permanently converted to green space. The City is providing additional information on where to park during construction, which will be taking place from August 2023 to June 2024.

For visitors, the Green Street Lot and Titcomb Street Garage are the closest alternatives, and will be able to accommodate most visitors. Parking is also available in the Prince Place Lot, Hales Court Lot, and free two-hour parking along the main streets downtown. All paid parking information can be found here.

For those with employee parking passes, we are making temporary changes to our parking policies for your convenience during construction.

From August 11 through September 14, all employee permit holders will be allowed to park in the following residential streets all day, as seen in this map:

  1. From Fair Street to Lime Street in an easterly direction, between High and Water Streets.
  2. From Green Street to Winter Street in a westerly direction, between High and Merrimac Streets.

Starting September 15 and through May 1, 2024, employee permit holders will be allowed to park in the Green Street lot. We respectfully ask that you park on the Green Street end of the lot if possible to leave spaces available for customer parking.

Employee permit holders, subject to availability, may continue to park in the following areas:

  1. Titcomb Street Parking Garage
  2. Waterfront lots East and West with the exception of the Waterfront Trust lot
  3. Prince Place lot
  4. Hales Court lot

For both visitors and employees, all day parking is available behind the Bartlet Mall on Pond, Greenleaf, and Auburn Streets.

The City’s Parking Advisory Committee will be meeting Wednesday, August 16 at 5:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers to discuss this change and other potential mitigation.

The City will continue to provide updates on the Market Landing Park Expansion project on its website. We will also keep residents updated on the Central Waterfront Bulkhead restoration project, which will begin after Labor Day and take place in a similar area, and will not require any additional closure of parking space.
