News to share from the Recycling, Energy and Health Offices

Saturday, October 3- Drop off Recycling – 8am-12pm

This Saturday is our regular First Saturday of the month drop off recycling event. No chemicals or paint will be accepted, but bring anything with a cord or batteries, rechargeable batteries, cords, fluorescent and LED bulbs, metal items, and, NOW, items that are 100% plastic, like resin lawn chairs, vinyl siding, toys, and laundry baskets.

No Weekday hours at the Recycle Center on Colby Farm Lane during the week of October 4.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

NO Change to Trash and Recycling Pick-up due to Columbus Day; or Veterans Day.

The next holiday to delay trash and recycling collection is Thanksgiving Day.

Sundays at the Yard Waste Facility:  October 4- the Colby Farm Lane yard waste facility will begin Sunday hours on October 4 until closing day on December 6. Hours on Sundays will be 10am-2 pm. Regular Tuesday through Saturday hours remain from 7.30-2.30 pm.

Save time and trouble!  Please sort your materials before coming to the Yard Waste Facility. Sticks and other branches of trees need to go into the pile that is to your right as you drive in to the YWF. All of that material will be run through a chipper – so consider whether your material could be future wood chips. Other garden and lawn debris, like leaves, goes in the pile on the other side of the facility. Remember, too, dirt does not go in either pile. The attendant will have you pull your material out of the piles if it’s in the wrong place. Thank you for helping us keep this facility running smoothly!

Leaf pick-up: Saturday, November 7 will be the first day for curbside leaf pick-up in the city.  There will also be two more Saturdays for leaf pick-up, November 21 and December 5.  Please place leaves only in brown paper leaf bags and fold bags over at the top. If necessary, you may use barrels instead of leaf bags, as long as they are conspicuously labeled as LEAVES.
