MeVa Updating Bus Routes April 8th

MeVa Map Image

MeVa (Merrimack Valley Transit) will be updating its bus lines on April 8th with some changes in service for the Number 19 bus. No changes will be made on the Number 20, which connects the MBTA Commuter Rail Station to Salisbury Beach via Downtown Newburyport.

Beginning April 8th, the Number 19 will be changing its route in these important ways:

  • The Route will provide direct access to the main entrance of Anna Jaques Hospital using Wallace Bashaw Drive off Low Street, and will also stop closer to the medical office building on site.
  • The Route will no longer offer access to the Towle Office Building or other destinations on Merrimac Street east of Route 1. These destinations will still be served by MeVa's paratransit service.
  • The Number 19 will offer a timed transfer at Costello Station in Amesbury that will allow faster service for riders coming from Haverhill and other destinations on the Number 17 bus.
  • The overall service will be more direct, offering faster connections from Downtown to popular destinations including the MBTA Commuter Rail Station, Market Basket Plaza, and the Hospital.

More information about MeVa and the updated buses can be found here

These routes were approved by the MeVa Advisory Board on March 7th. We appreciate all the community members who worked with the City and MeVa to discuss these changes and how to improve service for all riders.
