The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it is testing the movable span of the Hines Drawbridge on Main Street in Amesbury and Newburyport, starting Tuesday, October 24 at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. During this test, the bridge will be periodically opened and closed. Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time. There is a potential for delays for opening requests.

This work is part of an ongoing $2.6 million District-wide Drawbridge Operations and Repair contract.

All work is weather permitting and may change without notice.

Signs and traffic control devices will be used to guide drivers through the work zone.  Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
