Newburyport's Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding is now available, and applications will close in December. CPA funds have helped many projects in the City take place, including the Clipper City Rail Trail, restoration of many historic properties, creation of affordable housing units, Fuller Stadium, and Market Landing Park. The Community Preservation Committee reviews and discusses all applications and makes recommendations on their approval to the City Council.

The annual CPA Appropriation Process begins with a Public Hearing held by the Community Preservation Committee. This year's hearing will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Please join the online meeting by visiting the City of Newburyport website events calendar at https://www.cityofnewburyport.com/community-preservation-committee/events/341846.

The public is invited to attend and discuss the Community Preservation Act, the Community Preservation Fund, and the needs, possibilities, and resources of the City for the acquisition and preservation of open space, historic resources, affordable housing, and recreational resources.

Project evaluation criteria and the online application for the 2024 funding cycle are now available at the City’s website at: http://www.cityofnewburyport.com/community-preservation-committee

Applications must be submitted no later than 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023. Submissions for this round, and all future rounds, shall be ONLINE ONLY.  No hard copy paper submissions need to be delivered to the Planning Office.
