Smart Growth District

The Newburyport City Council approved the adoption of the “Smart Growth District” around the MBTA Commuter Rail Station on September 28, 2015. This new zoning district allows the redevelopment of surrounding properties (currently developed but underutilized) into multi-family condos and rental apartments around the Station as well as mixed use buildings, similar to the scale and character of Downtown Newburyport.
