Public Hearing: Community Development Block Grant Application for MicroBusiness Support Funds

The City of Newburyport will hold a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 7:00pm.
The purpose of this public hearing is to discuss the City’s proposal to partner with the City of Amesbury and apply for the Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 funding to support a regional business recovery program to assist businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19. Under this program, the City is proposing to provide mini-grants to eligible low- and moderate-income businesses. These grants could be used to a variety of options, including but not limited to assistance with rental/mortgage payments, purchasing supplies, applying for federal relief loans and grants, and/or one-on-one technical assistance to address other challenges to doing business during this time. The grant proposal may include any of these activities, as well as additional ideas that arise during the public hearing on June 3rd. If funded, this program would be a partnership between the City of Newburyport and the City of Amesbury.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this public hearing will be held virtually on June 3rd from 7-8pm and will be hosted by the Mayor Holaday’s Office. Any person or organization so wishing will be afforded an opportunity to be heard. Suggestions for other activities that the business recovery program could support can be made at the hearing on June 3rd or afterwards by contacting the Mayor’s Office at 978-465-4413 or e-mail: mayor@cityofnewburyport.com. The City encourages a broad spectrum of participation by the community to better understand and serve the needs of our businesses during this unprecedented time.
