Potential Hazards in Beach Thatch Along Waterways
Due to the record level of flooding Newburyport experienced over the weekend there have been reports of City Staff finding hypodermic needles along the shores within the thatch along the Merrimack River. The Newburyport Department of Public Health, Department of Public Services and Police Department have been notified and the City has deployed crews to the reported areas. The City will continue its clean-up effort beginning tomorrow morning March 6th.

Please do not attempt to clean this potentially contaminated debris, the City will send crews to affected areas as soon as they are available. Please use caution with children and pets near these affected
