Gillis Bridge drawbridge resumes full operations for marine traffic

<p>The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced June 2nd that the Gillis Bridge on Route 1 over the Merrimack River has resumed full drawbridge operations for marine traffic.&nbsp;The repairs to the bridge on the Newburyport/Salisbury line were completed early on the morning of June 2nd and the bridge has resumed full operations for marine traffic.&nbsp;Drawbridge operations were impacted beginning May 3, in order to implement repairs to correct some structural deficiencies.&nbsp;Throughout the period of repairs to restore drawbridge operations, the Gillis Bridge remained open to pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. &nbsp;</p><p>MassDOT reminds residents that for more information on traffic conditions, travelers are encouraged to:</p><ul><li>Dial 511 before heading out onto the roadways and select a route to hear real-time conditions.</li><li>Visit https://www.mass511.com, a website which provides real-time traffic and incident advisory information, access to traffic cameras, and allows users to subscribe to text and email alerts for traffic conditions.&nbsp;</li><li>Follow MassDOT on Twitter&nbsp;@MassDOT&nbsp;to receive regular updates on road and traffic conditions.</li><li>Download MassDOT&rsquo;s GoTime mobile app and view real-time traffic conditions before setting out on the road.</li></ul>
