General Overview of Programs and Services

The Mission of the Council on Aging is to advocate for older adults, to identify their needs, to develop and implement services and programs to meet their health, economic, social and cultural needs, to encourage maximum independence, and to improve their quality of life. The Council on Aging office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Services and Programs encompass arts, crafts, hobbies, social events, fitness classes, games and sports, information services, support groups and wellness programs.

Advocacy - The Council On Aging works to protect and support the interests and rights of older people. It joins efforts with older organizations to monitor important legislation, programs, and access to services.


Housing Assistance - The Council On Aging provides a handbook of information about the senior housing facilities available in Newburyport.
