- Appliances - Bring to Nichol’s Scrap Metal in Amesbury.
- Air conditioners, refrigerators, and dehumidifiers have Freon. For pick-up-call refrigeration company like Foucault Appliance for removal 978-372-6117 or Wayne Longdin at 978-465-1083, or Mello/Georgetown or bring to next Computer/electronics Day, Jan 26, 2008, Crow Lane Recycling Center, $10 fee.
- Bagged leaves- Put out on your trash day in brown, paper bags or marked barrels during the weeks of November 5, and 26 and December 3rd.
- Batteries - NiCad, rechargeable, button, and car batteries - Crow Lane, 1st Saturday of every month, 8-noon. Alkaline batteries (AA, C, D etc.) -throw in trash.
- Asphalt, brick, concrete, or clean fill - Miles River, 978-356-2290
- Books - Donate to Newburyport Public Library for book sales in March and October. Call 978-465-4428 for details.
- Cardboard - Large amounts only. Bring to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday of every month, 8-noon. Call Molly Ettenborough, 978-499-0413.
- Carpets and rugs - Put out on trash day. One room of carpet per week. Cut into 4-foot sections. Considered one large item.
- Cell phones and ink jet cartridges – Bring to Health Department in City Hall or to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday of every month, 8-noon
- Confidential Material – Save for next shredding day at the Crow Lane Recycling Center, Saturday, May 5, 2007.
- Construction material - Call disposal company like Mello Disposal, 352-8581
- CRT's, television, and computers –Saturday, Jan 26, 2008, 7:30-11:30, Crow Lane Recycling Center, $5/monitor, $10/tv. - or call Allied Computer Brokers in Amesbury – 978-388-9965
- Fluorescent light bulbs –Bring to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday of every month, 8-noon, $.07/foot
- Furniture (non-metal) - Put out on trash day. One item per week. Considered one large item.
- Gas grills - Remove propane tank and briquettes or rocks and bring to Nichol’s Scrap Metal in Amesbury. 978-388-9639
- Gasoline – Bring to HHW Day, September, 2008.
- Gutters - Aluminum gutters may be brought to Nichol’s Scrap Metal. Wood gutters may be brought to disposal company like Mello Disposal 352-8581
- Helium Tanks - $5 each, Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday monthly, 8-noon
- Latex paints - Remove lids, dry out paint, and throw in trash.
- Lumber - Call disposal company like Mello Disposal, 978-352-8581
- Mattress/boxspring - Put out on trash day. One item per week. Considered one large item.
- Mercury thermometers– Bring to Newburyport Health Department in City Hall. Trade it in for a digital one.
- Metal Goods – Appliances, bikes, water heaters, etc. Nichol’s Scrap Metal, 978-388-9639
- Microwaves - If an older model that is mostly metal, Nichol’s Scrap Metal. If microwave is newer and mostly plastic, throw in trash.
- Oil paint - Bring to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday monthly. $3.00/gal., 8-noon
- Propane tanks – Crow Lane Recycling Center, $1 fee for 20 pound tank or bring to Tank Recyclers in Middletown, 1-888-445-0579
- Recyclables - Large quantities of recyclable containers and newspapers may be brought to Mello Disposal in Georgetown, 978-352-8581.
- Solvents, chemicals, pesticides, etc - Bring to next Household Hazardous Waste Day, September 2008, 7:30-11:30, DPW, Pre-registration necessary after Labor Day. For other town HHW events – call 978-499-0413
- Styrofoam peanuts - Bring to Mailbox Etc or Pak Mail. Must be clean and bagged.
- Textiles - Old clothing, shoes, blankets, stuffed animal etc. leave in white recycling bins at Nock Middle School
- Tires – Bring to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday monthly, 8-noon. $2 fee per tire
- Used motor oil - Bring to Crow Lane Recycling Center 1st Saturday monthly.
- Windows - Call disposal company like Mello Disposal, 352-8581
- Yard Waste - Newburyport Compost Facility, Crow Lane, open second Tuesday in April - First Saturday in December, Weather permitting. Tuesday – Saturday 7:30-2:30. $10 residential sticker fee needed for use.
Directions to Crow Lane
Travel west on Low Street and proceed past Nock Middle School, which will be on your right. Crow Lane is one mile on the left after the school. There is a white fence on the Crow Lane corner.

Rt. 110 to Elm Street, Elm Street is the right at the intersection where Friendly’s and Burger King are. Travel along Elm Street and go down the hill into the downtown area. Railroad Avenue is a left immediately before the gas station that is on your right.

Rt. 95 South to Rt. 133 Georgetown exit. Go right off exit into Georgetown. Drive approximately 1 mile to a left that is labeled “Georgetown DPW and Mello Transfer Site”.
