Purpose and Overview
The Information Systems Department provides a variety of services relating to computer and telecommunications services, application software development, design and production services, and software training to all internal City clients and departments. These services encompass personal computers, networks, printers, servers, and more. The Information Systems Department is an innovator in the field of information technology management, using a combination of management solutions that maximize effectiveness and minimize cost. The "IS" Department also consults with other departments to analyze and select proper IT solutions for specific applications, provides internet access, computer training and support, and mobile computing solutions for City departments.
"IS" coordinates all City-wide core business functions and information technology administration. This includes accounts payable, utility billing, payroll administration,vital records (births deaths marriages etc.) general ledger, budget, purchasing, human resource management systems, accounts receivable, code enforcement & permitting systems, geographical information systems, the City website(s), police and fire dispatch and EMS reporting, and all office automation software & systems.
System and Network Support
Development and maintenance of the City's core communication infrastructure and wide area network. Maintain file and application servers and network security management, software distribution, and technical support for hardware and software.
