Welcome

The Office of Planning and Development is working with an intermodal parking task force appointed by the Mayor to review and recommend alternatives to enhance parking efficiency in the City.

In May of 2009, the design consultant for the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority, Tetra Tech Rizzo, identified six potential locations for an intermodal parking facility in Newburyport. These sites have been studied and evaluated using established criteria and narrowed down to two final two locations. The final two locations will be further evaluated and presented to the Mayor and City Council where it is anticipated that one site will be chosen. The final location will then be studied in detail with conceptual design drawings prepared for construction. The link below provides a more comprehensive summary of the work to be done by Tetra Tech Rizzo.
