Councilor O'Brien is the Ward 6 Councilor and is serving his seventh term as member of the Council. He currently sits on the General Government Committee.

Councilor O’Brien is President of City Council, He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.A and from Springfield College with a M. Ed in Rehabilitation counseling. He worked in the field of vocational rehabilitation for 37 years and is a lifelong resident of the great city of Newburyport.
